One of my major goals this year was to be recognised on a national level as one to watch. I feel like a broken record here, but I was not expecting that to happen at the start of the year!
Miss DJKC, who was one of the first presenters on BBC 1xtra, and is now a producer for their BBC Introducing show with Theo Johnson, chose me in her top 5 artists to watch this year!
I am super grateful for all of the support from 1xtra. Last year I was just hoping to get some local BBC recognition. The idea of being on BBC 1xtra hadn’t even crossed my mind, but from the first song that I released they have really backed me and it means a lot.
It’s actually been nuts!
- Several of my songs from the project were played on BBC 1xtra and some were played multiple times
- I got invited to the 1xtra Rap Cypher and my verse was selected as one of the stand out verses
- I was spotlighted as a Step Up artist on the BBC 1xtra Introducing show, where I talked about my journey so far
- Had a song chosen as Track of the Week and featured on the BBC 1xtra playlist
- I was highlighted as One to Watch on BBC 1xtra for 2024
Let’s hope that things continue to move in an upward trajectory this year. KC, I’ll do my best to show that your selection of me wasn’t in vain 🙂
