I am very happy and excited to announce that I have recently co-founded my first business, Merch Masters. Merch Masters is a garment manufacturing, decoration and printing company, with a focus on being the leading garment partner for clothing entrepreneurs.
What is a clothing entrepreneur?
To put it simply, a clothing entrepreneur is a person who creates a business that sells clothing. Selling clothes could be the main focus of the business, for example a fashion label, or it could be a supporting function, such as a youtuber or a musician. Although we focus on that market, we do also work with organisations and individuals that may require merch as promotional wear or uniforms.
Starting my first business has been a very long time coming. As some of you may know, I went to university to study Business Entrepreneurship and have always had the intention of starting a company.
To build this business, I have partnered up with Kieza Silveira De Sousa, a friend of mine from University. Kieza has 9 years of experience in the garment industry and he previously ran a garment decoration and printing company called Wear Your Heart Out.
Back at University, Kieza and I headed up the DMU Entrepreneurship Society, Wire DMU. We were accompanied by an amazing team that won the society award for Best Promotions, were nominated for Society of the Year and won funding from the National Association of College & University Entrepreneurs. As a result, we have a good idea of what it is like to work with each other.
I also know first hand what a difference it makes to partner with a company like Merch Masters. In fact, Kieza’s previous company, Wear Your Heart Out, designed the artwork for my first EP, The Graduate, and also designed and printed the t-shirts that I sold at my first headline show. .
With this new venture, I have full confidence that we can grow a tremendous brand. There is lots to do and learn however, we already have some amazing customers and a great foundation to build from.
